Hillcrest
A Hollingsworth classic mid century style home near Edgemont village is n North Vancouver. The back yard was a clean slate after large conifers were removed years prior. The goal of this garden was to add a lot of colour and multi season interest. Initially the yard was very exposed to the neighbours, to blur this boundary a natural looking barrier was implemented with the use of mixed shrubs and trees. The gardens towards the back of the property were planted with winter interest in mind using a great deal of native plants that would tie in well with the small stream that runs along the back. The views from inside the home are beautiful during the winter months now with colourful stems, winter flowering heaths and the exfoliating bark from the birch trees. The gardens closer to the house surrounding the patios are filled with summer perennials attracting pollinators and adding texture , movement, and feeling. Once the glass awning was installed the clients are able to enjoy almost every month of the year in their garden, with many birds and pollinators visiting regularly.
